About Us

A Wealth of Experience

Hi, I grew up around horses and the love for them, and then the sport grew from there.

I have competed successfully on Ponies at County and National Level, and once I finished school I went on to complete a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Horse Management, with a D*D*D* and an FdSc in Equine Science.

I now have my own yard at home where I am based in Devon, with a string of ridden horses and ponies, and with facilities that I am able to teach from.

What I Do

Into the world of work I have experience with many types of horses ranging from Point to Pointers, Dressage, Eventers, Show horses and ponies.

My first passion was training horses and naturally it progressed to becoming a British Horse Society Accredited Professional Coach, and now have my BHS Stage 3 Coach in Complete Horsemanship, BHS Senior Yard Managers and I am a BD Trainee Judge.

I coach and train in all 3 main disciplines but my heart always goes to Dressage and the flatwork side of training.

I have produced horses up to Elementary Dressage and being able to jump a course of fences, ride in open spaces and with others.

I fully believe that whatever discipline, our horses can learn basic flatwork and lateral movements as it is part of the foundations of their education.

I coach all ages and all level of abilities across Devon and across the border in to Cornwall, and I'm available to the Pony Club, Riding Schools, the leisure rider and the competitive rider.

Testimonials

A Super Combination

If you are looking for help with your horse or pony then I can highly recommend Fern Field.

Fern has been riding my Welsh Section B Mare for over 12 months now, and they make a super combination — Hacking, Showing and Dressage.

I'm so pleased

Fern has more recently brought another of our ponies back into ridden work after a long time off. We are very pleased how this is going.

Restored My Confidence

I would thoroughly recommend Fern as a teacher and coach for people at many levels. She has restored my confidence as a rusty returner, once pretty good but my skills masked my nerves, and after some nasty falls and lack of recent practice. She has a sharp eye, and calibrated the lessons exactly right to help me regain my nerve and rediscover those long buried skills. She is a total delight to work with — positive, fun and always encouraging. I will always be grateful to her for putting me back on the road when I could so easily have given up.
