Travelling coaching across North Devon — at your yard, on your horse
North Devon's open countryside, coastal lanes and friendly equestrian community make it a wonderful place to ride. Fernfield Equestrian travels regularly into the area to deliver private riding lessons and schooling sessions for riders in Barnstaple, Bideford, South Molton, Torrington, Holsworthy, Chulmleigh and the surrounding villages.
All coaching is delivered by a British Horse Society Accredited Professional Coach with extensive experience producing horses, supporting competitive riders and helping nervous adults rebuild trust in themselves and their horses.
We come to you. Whether you keep your horse at a livery yard, on your own land or at a friend's place, we will travel across North Devon to coach in your familiar environment. There is real value in working in the arena your horse knows — they tend to be more relaxed, and we can see more of how you and your horse really operate together at home.
Some North Devon riders want a structured competition pathway. Others want quiet, progressive hacking. Many simply want their horse to go more softly and politely through transitions. All of those are valid goals, and Fernfield Equestrian will build the lesson plan around what matters most to you.
Our coaching covers all three disciplines, with deep expertise in flatwork and dressage. We work up to Elementary and beyond on the flat, and our coach is a BD Trainee Judge — invaluable for riders aiming at affiliated tests.
North Devon has wonderful Pony Club branches and we love supporting members preparing for rallies, tests and competitions. Adult learners and returning riders are equally welcome — many of our adult clients come to us with rusty technique and shaky nerves, and leave a few sessions later with renewed control and quiet confidence.
If you would like your horse worked while you are not able to ride as often as you would like, our schooling service is ideal. We will ride your horse, work on the specific skills you want developed (or sticking points you would like ironed out), and feed back honestly on how they are going.
